These are exactly as represented in the product information. I was going to use them as pick-up magnets, not as hangers, but it turned out that the thing I needed to pick up must be aluminum because it didn't work at all. I did check the magnet on a steel gate, though, and I could not pull it off--had to slide it off.
Great little magnets. Classy, too, though if you are hanging something very thick, it might not stay on (not much space between the base and the tip of the handle).
